About
As one of the Emirates' oldest traditional markets, Dubai Gold Souk has over 350 retailers trading tax-free gold of different carats, designs and weights. There are also precious stones, strings of pearls, platinum and silver available here. You can bargain at the market, and enjoy better rates when paying in cash. To reach the Gold Souk, you can take an inexpensive abra ride across Dubai Creek, and combine your visit with nearby attractions like the Bur Dubai Grand Mosque, Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood and Al Seef.

    The Dubai Gold Souk
This was my third trip to Dubai and every time I just wanted to go to the gold souk. Like the name says, you’ll not just find hundreds of jewelry stores but also other shops selling a wide range of things from local perfumes, spices, clothes among other. I’m sure you’ll be blown away. Overall, I found experience was well worth the time. Highly recommended the Dubai Gold Souk.

    Gold souk
The prices are fantastic for the product you get, particularly if you are willing to negotiate and play hard ball for a better price. If you can't handle confrontation or haggling you'll still get a decent price compared to anywhere in the states. If you're in the area definitely visit but be warned, you will be bombarded to buy from nearly everyone so steel yourself and say no and continue walking.

    The Gold War
If you’re going to the Gold Souk then be prepared to haggle. They have beautiful jewellery but the price you get depends on how silver tongued you are. Generally, they are happy to decrease the price if you pay by cash. On another note, its a beautiful street, and you will get distracted at every corner, there’s street food, beverages, ice cream and even second hand luxury watches too for a golden price (haha). Seriously make sure you visit this place.

    Interesting to visit
Lots of great choices for gold. Also offered lots of fake brands by people in the street e.g Rolex watches etc. Overall an interesting place to visit and a good place to get some shade.

    Gold souk
Gold souk in dera is famous for retail gold shops. We did our shopping from joyalukkas showroom. The varierty in designs was excellent. In this area, one can also get a lot of bags and perfume at a fairly reasonable price. If you plan to do shopping in dubai, must visit this part of the city.

Gold and much more, a great daily experience
Wow, what an amazing market place; Here you can find over 300 “stores”. From spices, cloth, souvenirs, candies to gold. You can see the biggest gold ring in the world. Across from It you can take a ride on a boat along the Dubai Creek. Here you will experience what it is a local daily life.

    Unique. Have fun with it
You have to be in the right mood or with an easy-going personality to visit this place. Expect to be invited to come in, see, snd try on at every shop. Too much attention to potential customers, in my opinion, but it’s part of the culture. The sellers are quick to show and find for you anything. Price negotiation is expected. Not my kind of shopping when you are constantly offered something. I like observing quietly. We were there just for sightseeing and window shopping. It’s definitely a unique experience. Take it as a good adventure. Smile, say thank you, keep going, enjoy! The narrow streets were full of cars and traffic jams around 6 pm. We used Apple maps to get out on a bigger road to catch a taxi. P.s. Most shops have AC and the market is shaded by the roof.

Not a great shopping experience but good for jewellery
Be prepared to be harassed! This place is great for jewellery no doubt, but you need to know your stuff, lots of 18ct and 21ct retailers now, never saw that few years ago when it was all 22ct So many salespeople on the streets harassing as you walk pass, makes me more reluctant to purchase. So much selling fake goods

Most Interesting Part of the Old Souk Experience
Overall, the experience of visiting the old souk area of Dubai was somewhat disappointing. I enjoyed the Abra across the Dubai Creek, and we did find some cheap souvenirs while here, but it was more of a modern flea market than the exotic experience I was expecting. The Gold Souk was more like a small shopping mall with more established shops available. Ok to wander about and window shop, ignoring the best you can the annoying vendors who will constantly pester you. No way was I going to buy something here not knowing whether I was getting something of dubious quality and whether the value was there.

    Excellent service and excellent quality
Special mention to Jasper at Malabar Gold Souk Dubai. He is very patient and customer friendly. We came back to this store twice already and we are just fortunate he was the one who assisted us. Jasper has a lovely smile and has a good connection to his customers.

Two big thumbs up for the service and quality of gold jewelry from Kanz Jewellers! My wife and I bought two 22K gold bangles and were impressed by Akash Thapa (not to mention Ajay and Pradeep too!) from the main store. We can’t thank them enough! They gave excellent service, were patient and polite, and price was excellent. I highly recommend them!

This is not a traditional “open” souk, but a series of small shops selling gold and more gold. The array and quantity is stunning and worth a visit if you are interested in Jewellery and if you like to haggle for a bargain. It is located beside the spice souk so really a 2 in 1 experience.

Información Center agents are very lovely persons, willing and able to guide us how to get to our next destination. We found convenience grocery stores with large selection of fresh coffees, fruits and souvenirs. Various restaurants some opens 24 hours. Love it!

I heard about Dubai's golden souk so often that a trip is necessary to see what's it about, despite not really being a jewellery person.

The golden souk is a traditional arabic open market with lots and lots of shops selling gold and diamond jewellery, precious gem stones and the likes but mostly, they sell full gold jewellery, lots and lots of them. In fact, I think there's more gold in here probably than most gold mines.

By and large, most of the shops sell the same pieces but there are some special and unique designs. Haggling is necessary when one wish to buy something, as the official price leave a lot of room for bargaining. Most of the shop assistant and owners are friendly and helpful but there are some that can be a bit too pushy and if that's the case just walk away. Also, take your time to look around to shop for the best deal and don't be pressured into any purchase. There are street hustlers trying to offer fake rolex and the likes and while there are many of them, just wave them away and they won't bother you.

As for whether to trust the shops here for large amount purchase, I will say better proceed with caution. For any substantial amount, like say 5 thousand or more, it's better to ask for independent verification of the gold quality and as I understand this service is provided in the Gold Souk. Also, as gold trading is highly regulated and monitored in Dubai, it's very unlikely any of the shops were dared to sell fake gold. However, the craftsman ship but not be up to par so check and buy at your own risk.

Overall still an eye-opening experience and worth a visit.

We came to see it 15 years ago and this place lost its charm (in fact - the whole area). Also being constantly hassled left and right by the salesman is extremely annoying.

Be prepared to be approached every few metres here - by men offering to take you to see "fake designer" items. If agreed to go with them, you will most likely be led down an alleyway and then up a few flights of stairs (or up in a very old and unsafe lift...). We went prepared for this and, must admit, did want to check it out. However, I would not be doing this again as some 'shops' did feel unsafe and intimidating...one was hidden behind a bookcase. We did get given a bottle of water each from one shop which was nice of them. The intimidation and concern for safety made me wonder what would happen if we did not buy anything - however, upon testing this out, we weren't made to feel unsafe for not buying.
The sense of relief I got when we made it out of these 'shops' and back into the market was incredible. Interaction with people around the main market was good and we did not feel pressured to purchase (although we did).

Despite being located in the Old City area this souk doesn’t have the historic vibe I was hoping for and feels a lot more commercial now, with most of the stores selling the same stuff at the same prices. Having said that though, if was far less ‘pushy’ than I was expecting and the staff in many stores were happy to engage in conversation and offer advice, with no expectation to make a purchase. The same can’t be said for some of the adjacent clothing streets but if you stick to the main areas it’s fine.

Definitely somewhere you should visit on a a trip to the city and there are good purchases and bargains to be found if you want.
