The tour is impressive - due to the mine itself. Our tourguide was quite pushy pointing out that we have to be faster most of the time. Being in the mines I would have wished for more time to get used to the surrounding. The tour operator does not allow explosions "for tourist entertainment" but when miners are using dynamite... This is not a typical tour in a lot of ways: you see a lot of human suffering, you get dirty, you quietly fear for your life, and you do shots of nearly pure alcohol. You need to know what you are in for, but if you do you'll have a great time. Our guide was Wilson and he was... More

We had an awesome experience touring the mines with Pedro, of Big Deal Tours. He's friends with everyone you meet along the way, and there's a good reason for that: he's very friendly and knowledgeable about both the positives and negatives of mining as a profession. (He was a miner from age 10-18). Also, he's more than willing to engage... More

Big deal were an excellent company to do the tour of the mine with. Wilson was a brilliant guide, very funny, put everyone at ease but was also very knowledgeable & interesting. The tours are run by ex-miners so they are extremely knowledgeable about the mine. The tour lasts around 4 hours with around 1-1.5 hrs inside the mine. I... More

This was a brilliant tour run by ex miners who are very knowledgeable funny and helpful. You actually go down the mine so it is not for those who suffer claustrophobia. The dust us terrible but you see real miners doing real job. You can buy dynamite as a gift from the market for £3,the miners are always grateful. A... More

I went to the mines with this company and our guide (unfortunately I forgot the name) was so funny and knew well his stuff. Except for that they can give you recommendations about the city, they helped us about where to eat for example. I highly recommend them.

We were part of a G adventures group that toured with Pedro, an ex miner. Had a fantastic time exploring the miners market beforehand and then heading into the mine. The service was professional and informative, felt safe at all times with several assisting guides accompanying our group. Really enjoyed this tour!

Our whole group went along to this tour, 8 of us in total. Pedro our guide was brilliant, spoke very good English and the banter was brilliant! We were taken to get coca leaves first before entering the mines as the locals do! Also advised to get a little gift for the miners which was super cheap - just a... More

Crawl through alternatingly muddy and dusty tunnels, deep within a mountain, above 4,000m altitude. Feel the sulphurous air burn your throat, and wince as the stuffy, hot air thickens with dust all around you. This is an experience you'll never forget, and the guides at Big Deal tours know it first hand. They spent years working here before setting up... More
