My visit to the Puppenmuseum was one of the highlights of my recent stay in St Wolfgang. What a plethora of beautiful dolls from across the ages! The dolls' costumes were fabulous with such intricate detail. Many photos were taken! A definite 'must' for any visitor to the area.

We have planned to visit this museum with our 7 year old daughter and carefully scheduled our visit for a Friday, being informed from their web site that they are closed on Tuesday. However, the owners refused to let us have their key to their collection of dolls while they were enjoying their beers on the balcony of their Dorf Alm restaurant, briefly announcing that they decided to take the day off, having their so called in German " Ruhe Tag" . When I kindly ask them to please give us the key to their collection, because I noticed on internet they mentioned only Tuesday as being their closed for public day, explaining we were coming a long way with our little daughter whom they saw being sad and upset, also together with her old grandma, they still refused and said they have been opened at the beginning of the week when Austrians and Germans had holiday and now they preferred to take the day off instead. Not at all flexible, not at all friendly were the owners, no sign of compassion for a little girl whom we promised she was about to see on her first visit in Austria an enchanting, magic world of puppets, as so we learned from other reviews. The bitterness of a disappointed little girl and the sadness of her mother (myself) was of no importance. I guess their feelings, if they had any, were also off, quiet, on a "Quiet Day" as this "Ruhe Tag" would literaly be translated.…

Very reasonable entry fee, and worth a visit, but I expected to see a collection of, maybe, old Austrian dolls. However, although the dolls were beautifully dressed in lovely costumes they were all modern, and mainly "Barbie Dolls" with themes.

We assumed it was a museum of puppets but it really is a doll museum. A lot of Barbies. Girls will enjoy this mostly so enjoy a beer in the attached pub will they visit the museum.
