This typical house is very interesting and attractive.
The visit was very enjoyable.
I think it was the most interesting thing to visit in the old area of Al Muharraq which is located just some km. from Manama and very easy to reach in bus.

The house is pretty amazing in terms of the apparent size from outside and the spaciousness of it all once you walk around inside. The architectural details are really beautiful and it is actually possible to get lost as corridors and rooms wind around in a way that makes it difficult to keep it all straight. Best to take a guide if you really want to understand it all, especially as there is little in the way of signage and explanation of what you are seeing. Or they could print up some brochures with explanations. It only costs BD1, though, so maybe you shouldn't expect too much. It's in an interesting little corner of the city so you can wander a bit before or after visiting the house. It's an enjoyable way to spend 45 minutes or so.

This "house" is more like the traditional palace/fort anywhere in the Gulf. Except this one is completely gutted. Minimal signage, no decorations or furniture, it is just a vast, albeit impressively built, empty fort-house.

It was lovely to visit an old building in the Middle East. All the countries there are building high rise, but here was a bit of history. It was interesting to see how they kept the houses cool pre air con. Our guide was very knowledgeable and explained what all the rooms used to be used for. The house needs some restoration but I am sure this will be done.

A beautifully preserved 219 years old arabic house/palace that was used by the ruler of Bahrain Shaikh Essa bin Ali Alkhalifa from 1869 to 1932, such a beautiful old arabic house that we are really lucky to have it still standing in Bahrain, it has 3 main sections for the ruler and his family, the guests and the servants, with 3 water wells and lots of rooms, the old traditional Bahraini architecture is amazing and it is interesting for the whole family to look at, it is a must see for all the tourists and one of the top attractions in Bahrain.

We booked an excursion with our cruise ship operator, which included a visit to this old historical home. It is in the old capital and from the top you can see the modern city of Manama. Very well preserved and interesting information given by our guide but it is basically bare walls so not a lot to see. Nothing much more to say as not probably interesting to most people I’m afraid. But historical site preserved against a modern skyline nearby.

Located in Al-Muharrah this was the palac e of the ruleruntil 1935.Interesting to see the internal courtyard and the various rooms located around the courtyard.The wind tower is very well preserved as are some fine doors and archways.Not furnished but very interesting to see an this well preserved example of a historic lifestyle.

We went with young children and they sure were bored. There’s no activities there for them. It’s interesting to see the architecture but nothing much else. Better for somebody who’s interested in architecture and culture. Not so much for a family holiday.
