The overnight visit to the Mission has been fascinating: The Church looked crowded with parishioners and the chants of the choir, they moved me to those distant times when Jesuit missionaries and members of ancient tribes lived together under a new social order, this under an egalitarian scheme in which the musical arts reached a great development, and precisely Mission of Conception is one of the venues of the International Festival of Renaissance and Baroque American Music, in addition to being in the Missionary Museum the Musical Archive of Chiquitos that holds scores 5,500 pieces of music invaluable Jesuit legacy.

Enjoy the Mission of the Immaculate Conception because: LIFE...is a JOURNEY!

This was an amazing trip from Santa Cruz, a lot of driving, about 4.5 hours from Santa Criz in rental car. Traffic was sometimes cumbersome around Santa Cruz but as we got further out it got much better, actually once near Concepcion, highway was pretty much up to ourselves.
The church is beautiful and when you consider when it was built is pretty amazing feat.
We stayed the night at Concepcion Hotel which was a pleasant surprise.

The church has a great (and extensive) museum in a separate building on the town's main plaza. The church, entirely constructed of wood, is beautifully restored and *very* impressive. I regret that tour guides were not to be found to provide more information. (Note that the church is in regular use by the parish.) Buses need about 5 hours to get to/from Santa Cruz de la Sierra.

This church is located hours away ... While it may be beautiful (looked that way from pictures), it's nowhere near Santa Cruz

This Jesuit Mission- Church is not in Santa Cruz it is 4 hrs. away. Stay over in Concepcion 1-2 nights (Gran Hotel Concepcion, has breakfast and a pool, nice, quaint 40 room +like B & B). On the way stop at San Francisco Javier Mission- Church have lunch in the plaza square area.Stop by area 'las 2 piedras' takes 15 min to see this place/house. Our tour guide was Dyana & driver Adelio (?) .In Concepcion see the Museum , Mission & Church = Parroquia de la Inmaculada Concepcion (it is all in the main square). Make sure to put on bug spray you will be attacked by mosquitos in the Mission and Church. A well worth attraction.

Amazing to see what was built by Bolivians and Jesuits some hundreds years ago - and then all lost.
The mission is just great, I've visited it several times and I am still surprised every time I see it. Also visit the workshop beside the mission. It's really worthwhile to see how they work the wood.

This church is really exquisite. From the imposing facade decorated in religious and ethnic symbolism to the cavernous interior - you will not be disappointed with your visit. It is probably better to travel flexibly and be prepared to stay in Conception (several good hotels) as the church may not be open during the day. Of course at Easter and other holy days the church will be open. Behind the church there is a museum with the theme of the restoration of these churches by Hans Roth and an enclosed garden which is very well maintained. All in all a wonderful experience
