Banteay Samre is a really beautiful 12th century Hindu Temple which was built around the exact same period as Angkor Wat with comparable like structure. Banteay Samre is known as the Kid of Angkor Wat and it's somewhat from the regular tourist track but is...More

Not crowded like the main temples in the big and small circuit, Banteay Samre allows one to really step back in time to enjoy the peace. Many beautiful corridors and courtyards.

This stunning edifice was visited very early in the morning to capture the soft photographic light. We were also fortunate for it to be an overcast day thus minimising the contrasts. A memorable experience to be revisited when we next visit Siem Reap.

I tacked this one onto my guides itinerary, and it was a worthwhile extra half hour walk around. Cambodians tend to Cremate rather than bury, so to find a Coffin inside this temple was a unique feature. The moat around this one is quite something...More

A beautiful temple. I think it's worth the drive if you have time. We combined it with a stop for lunch and the landmine museum.

Large, comparatively flat temple displaying distinctively Angkor Wat-style architecture and artistry. The temple underwent extensive restoration this century by archaeologists using the anastylosis method. Banteay Samre was constructed around the same time as Angkor Wat. The style of the towers and balustrades bear strong resemblance...More
