After our first day of visiting temples I went to visit this museum. The friend of mine go back to the hotel to rest. I was very happy to go because the museum is well organised and explain a lot of things about Angkor Wat and the different kind of temples (depending on the period).

This is a modern private museum which goes done way to giving you a taste of Cambodian history and culture until the 16th century and prepares you a bit for Angkor Wat and the rest. A large part is given over to Bhuddism and Hinduism with not enough about Cambodian history and culture. The museum itself is modern and clean... More

The museum is very well laid out. We certainly appreciated having been here when we went on to do the temples the next day. The carvings and bars reliefs are so detailed, you need to know a bit about what to look for. We probably should have bought the book there too, it turned out to be fairly good value.... More

I am one to read all about my destination before I visit a place, but if you are not, I suggest you visit Angkor National Museum before you visit the temples in Siem Reap. We stayed at Angkor Palace Resort&Spa, about 10 minutes drive from the airport. It's an easy ride with tuktuk to reach the Museum. You have to... More

Not a large museum but has wonderful galleries and artifacts highlighting the Khmer empire and civilization. If you spend the time to go through all the exhibits you could easily spend 2-3 hours. Absolutely worth taking your time to take in all that the museum has to offer.

We went there before we started visiting the temples. It really help us to understand more what we saw and to put everything in context.

Better than the national museum in Phnom Penh. It gives you a great history and understanding for the temples and ancient history of Cambodia. Spend some time here to increase your apreciation of the temples you'll explore.

The museum is specially designed to provide visitors with history and background prior to visiting the temples. Using the audio tour (an extra USD3.00), you are guided around the museum. At various points there are large screen videos providing further information. If you can, visit the museum first, it only takes a couple of hours and provides a good background... More

Informative about religion and some of the Angkor history, but not much on how it was built. There are a few artefacts however. A bit overpriced for what it was compared to other places in Cambodia. As Angkor Wat is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the world, feel like this museum is trying to make a lot of... More

Beautifully laid out starting on top floor at Gallery A, wheelchair accessible (unusual observation) and nice flow, ending in Gallery G. Museum Gift Shop a nice high quality change from all the "market stalls". Allow 2 hours and wish we had asked our tuktuk driver to wait for us as it was pouring rain. Appreciated the museum more after the... More
