十二生肖塔(Suar Prat Tower)

These are within the Angkor Thom city but aren't much compared to other temples. We didn't have a guide but from what I understood from our driver these 12 structures were bulit to represent the 12 Chinese Zodiac years eg, tiger, ox but according to what I have read since returning home the purpose is not known so I'm not... Our tour guide took us to Bapuon, then Phimeanakas, the Royal Palace and the Elephant Terrace and Leper King Terrace. These fantastic temples/sites are located in a very close proximety. From the top of the Elephant Terrace you can view the Prasat Suor Prat towers and have a good vantage point to photograph them. I was on a 4 day... More

We visited here after visiting adjacent Preah Pithu. Nearby are the Khleangs also. Not that much to see - 12 towers but undecorated.

If you visit almost anything in Angkor Thom you will likely drive right by these towers. If you aren't looking you could potentially miss them. Especially if you are looking across the street at the bit more popular and meaty Terrace of the Elephants. I didn't walk through them but viewed them from atop the Terrace of the Leper King.... Positioned inside the archaeological site of Angkor Thom, right across the road from the Terrace of the Elephant and near the Bayon Temple, Attraction in my personal opinion is of less attention, not particularly interesting as the major temples in the vicinity, in fact Prasat Suor Prat is made up of an array of 12 small temples, almost like turrets,... Directly across the road from the Terrace of the Elephants stand 12 nearly identical sandstone towers. They do not display Bayon style architecture and their use is of much debate. Clearly visible from the terrace for photos to be taken.

This series of towers are prominent only because they occupy the large open space directly opposite the Terrace of Elephants in Angkor Thom. Noone is quite sure of their purpose. They form good subjects for photos but that's about all. The rumour is that they were meant to settle disputes and people were locked up inside. The one to emerge... More

Opposite the Royal Palace area and the Terrace of the Elephants there are 12 small temples. Maybe too small to visit but well worth taking pictures from.

If you are at the terrace of the leper king, you will see them parrallel on the eastern side of the Angkor thom. It is a nice change from the typical temples that you will see on that day. I didnt necessarily take the time to look at them up closer but they do look nice from afar. If you... More
