Started in 2012, Cambolac, a Cambodian Social Business, in producing and selling high quality souvenirs, brings a simple yet efficient way of chaining local poverty to booming tourism.

Please come visit our LACQUER WORKSHOP and showroom in the center of Siem Reap where you will discover the fine art of lacquering.

Cambolac's products are handmade in our Siem Reap workshop along a thirty-day manufacturing process. Starting with a wooden form, with great care, one by one, up to ten layers of poly-cashew oil lacquer are hand brushed and sprayed. Each new layer is finely sand papered before we apply the next one.

I was walking around in Siem Reap and by coincidence I saw this workshop. I asked if I could look around and spontanously a deaf lady was my guide in the proces of lacquery. Starting with a wooden form, the local people create unique souvenirs with great care, one by one. They offer a choise of beautiful souvenirs. By buying... More

The Cambolac workshop, a Cambodian Social Business, makes the best Cambodian souvenirs. This handicraft company designes beautiful laquer ware, made by vulnerable poor or hearing impaired young adults. Philippe, the manager and inspiror, designes beuatiful pictures for the laQuer ware. The result is very professional. Every time I visit Siem Reap I buy some objects, they are the jewels in... More

There are an array of things to do in Siem Reap. But if you have any interest in things that actually make a real and lasting difference to disadvantaged peoples lives -and give them dignity and a sustainable future -then DO visit Cambolac. Oh -and the products are fabulous too and we did lots if Christmas shopping whilst we were... More

Fair trade supporting disadvantaged groups. Great variety of products made by using lacquer and paper. Lovely art design on coasters, mats, trays etc. Worth a visit and so much better than imported tat in the markets.

We didn't make it to the actual store front but visited the stand at the handmade market off of king street. The woman working was very friendly. Handmade gifts that support locals with disabilities. Great souvenirs.

We visited Cambolac shop at Siem Reap nightmarket and were fascinated about the products and their background. So we decided to visit Cambolac workshop the next day. It is a fascinating place where also disadvantaged local people find a proper place to work and can earn a good salary while producing beautiful products. Cambolac's owner Phillippe is full of passion... More

Great concept from Philippe and his wife, who created a workshop for disabled people, allowing them to make a living by their own work. The products are simple, classy and affordable, considering that everything is made by hands. But what we really liked was the discussion we had with the owner and his wife, as their concept is to share... More

I visited this article centre producing beautiful lacquer and paper article by deaf and deaf mute young adults. These people are mainly from the very poor Angkor area and trained to produce hand made souvenirs selling in Siem Reap shops and duty free stores. WEllis worth a short walk or tuk tuk ride to see in production. Check out cambolac.com

Please make the time to go and visit this extraordinary workshop. Not only will you have an exceptional shopping experience with the opportunity to purchase beautiful lacquerware products but you will also be supporting the highly skilled workers, many of which have hearing impairments. We visited in June 2016 and were greeted by Trang, who is quite possibly the most... More
