that had it a dozen or so trees it would be Superb. Albeit the centrepiece here is a Clock Tower, which I suppose we might assume to remind us of Time, just as do the Cathedrals we see on other Plaza sides. The fountain of showers that rim one wooden ramp to the Tower base is a lovely touch. Nice... More

Another area where Chileans are bringing history to life. Lots of revitalized stores and walkways to explore and if you get tired you can hop on the street car.

Plaza Prat is one of the historical corners of Iquique. You can see a bit of the history of the town, the immigrants that came to the city years and years ago. Colorful, old and nice, it's a good place to walk around.

This part of Iquique is seriously beautiful, and looks like many parts of the United States' Deep South and, certainly, New Orleans in particular. There is a beautiful theatre and a terrific clock tower, with a cathedral two blocks back. But all the naval and custom buildings are situated here in their beautiful different array of paint colors. Not big,... More

Really elegant at the same time showing the local culture. WHere you cand find many activities, restaurants and fairs with beautiful products. Fresh weather and appreciable structures as clock tower and municipality, also the colonial houses still preserved.

A spacious, airy plaza with some wonderful neo-Moorish monuments, starting with the clock tour. The old Spanish Club, now a restaurant, is covered with Morocco-type tiles. Even in this popular area it's possible to find cheap, unassuming places for lunch. When I was there, a trio were playing some very good Chilean/Peruvian style music.

With its historical Clock Tower, the Plaza Prat always has people of all ages meeting, walking, seating around, on a daily basis. the buildings, pavement and rail track, of the Plaza and Baquedano Street are the permanent remembrance of what Iquique has been in the past. More over, many cultural or regional events take place on a weekly basis, which... More
