Very nice place to visit during the day or at night, lots of shopping malls and small shops line the street - from expensive western shops and restaurants to small local ones. Can be very busy at the weekend.

The whole street is going through extensive refurbishment. Nonetheless, it's still bustling with tourists, both local and foreign. For the slightly more adventurous visitors, they should venture out to the northern side of Zhongshan Road.

Great to see a city refurbishing buildings instead of knocking them all down. Lots of interesting tea shops.

Not much to see, repetitive shops, pineapple pies o' plenty. The other two market streets in town are much, much better and interesting.

Lots of shops. Old & new side by side. Local delicacies in abundant & in affordable prices. Try exploring around the streets including the back & side lanes but make sure you go in groups to stay safe.

Very noisy , a lot of construction , very hard to see all that it has to offer . I suggest maybe a guide to take you around as no one speaks any English .

I assume that your layover is during the day. I would highly suggest Gulangyu island. It may require a little preparation in terms of getting tickets, and if you don't mind crowds, it's worth a visit. I think it's the best... More
