First of all, I will admit my bias. I am very interested in the development of these cities which came out of nothing in China. This is one of the best places to learn about Special Economic Zones in China. Informative and nearly all of...More

The Shenzhen museum is a decent sized museum that houses history of China from a Southern China perspective. The building looks grand and huge from the outside. Once I starting browsing the various levels, it was a disappointment. There were many wax figures detailing history...More

Not impressed with this, most official things in China are fairly lame, but this was complete rubbish.

First off, there are actually two Shenzhen museums: the one devoted to ancient art is under renovation. The other museum (and the one being reviewed) is devoted to the history and folk culture of Shenzhen. It boasts a pretty impressive architecture, like most of the...More

Even by modern Chinese standards, the civic centre building in Shenzhen is stunningly impressive. The swooping roof and the colourful central buildings are really outstanding. At the east side of the is massive structure is the Shenzhen Museum. Sadly, once you're inside, the 'wow' factor...More

If I remember correctly you have english signs and you can also have an audio tour in English, at least for the permanent exhibition about Shenzhen history. It's a great first step when you come visiting Shenzhen.

Civic centre Exit C. As you come out, you will see the massive building in front of you. Take the crosswalk to your left and right on the other side. Left at the end of the building and you will see the entrance in your left.
