Interesting Mongolian temple

Nice visit if you are in the city. Different than most Buddhist temples and has historic significance. The old street is right across the plaza that you can walk to.

This well maintained temple complex contains many wonders. The monks study and pray within the temple and it is really worth a visit.

Around Dazhao temple there are several other temples to take in as well, all beautiful in thir own way. Dazhao is the biggest and requires a ticket while the others are free. It is a gorgeous temple, not the best, but worth taking in.

The temple itself is the same as most temples around China, mostly rebuilt. The redeeming quality is the touristy streets around it with good prices souvenirs and leather workers.

This is one of the most beautiful Buddhist temples in China, well preserved, with some rare statutues and a living monastery with monks still chanting. You might catch a prayer if you are lucky as we were. There are some magnificent statues, including the ten foot silver Sakyamuni, an exquisite white Buddha and a blue faced Buddha I haven't seen... The Dazhao temple is a great reminder of an early Huhhot. In the last decade, this ci has grown rapidly and its face has changed, with many new contemporary suburbs springing up. The Dazhao temple is a reminder of a more gentle time in Cuinas history. It seems to be very well respected and, whilst like much of Chinese icons,... More

Although it is recently renovated for tourism purpose, it is still done well with a good representation of the Tibetan monasteries. Excellent for people who would never visit Tibet as it is quite restricted for foreigners and the problem with altitude sickness. Interesting to see that there are Tibetan monks in the complex as well as the abbot giving Buddhist... More

Fascinating tour of the temple. You need about 2-3 hours to do this properly. I was with my Chinese colleagues who translated for me. You really need an explanation of all you see and hear, so it would be worth investigating if they run English guided tours or if you can hire a guide. The area itself is also fascinating.... More

We went with a guide and he bought our tickets. It's a great area and the temple is wonderful. It's the largest temple in Hohhot.
