This neighborhood is much quieter than other more popular tourist destinations. Real locals live here, by the canal. We wandered along the street and intentionally got lost in the canal neighborhood. We saw old wine shops, old restaurants, people doing laundry by the canal, and everything that made us believe what to be the real live next to the canal.... More

It is like going back in time in some areas. Some of the house look like they did when they were first built.

This shopping area has many shops, museums, restaurants and tea rooms. I like this area the best for finding chinese junks and a quick tour of traditional gardens. The trees planted on the streets dont have bark and ade very unusual

I have been in Suzhou for about 40 times since last 10 years. Everytime I visited down town I found good food, very amazing views on the streets and channels, it's also a nice place for looking for gifts, e.g. tea! I strongly recommend to visit Suzhou old town only if the sun shines, rain can destroy first Impression.

This place is famous mostly for the Bars but if you have time try visit it during the day. It is one of the ancient streets of Suzhou with stone pathways and the canal. Very good opportunity to take pictures.

This is the center of the old city, and there are a lot of shops and restaurants, but it feels run down, and the streets are too crowded with taxis and e-bikes. The street is dirty and there are horrible smells coming from all directions. My friends say it's China, but I've been all over China....this is bad for any... More

This street is FULL of places to shop and bars with ridiculous names. I loved them. I was there on a rainy day, so it was kind of dead. But I'm sure it picks up on nights when it's warmer and drier. The whole street seemed like it was just itching for a party to start.

You can spend all day in this street if you like strolling, shopping, eating. Yang Yangs, the Little Camel restaurant are favourite eating places. Mr Xu the silk tailor has gorgeous clothes.
