Other must-see place in Wuxi is Taihu lake and in particular the Turtle Head Island. The price of the ticket is 90 RMB which is reasonable as it includes two main scenic spots which are pretty big. It also includes the ferry you need to take in order to head for the Turtle Head Island which is one of the scenic spots in the matter. While approaching the island you can easily realize it is made of two parts...the one on the left is bigger whereas the one on the right is smaller. You can ignore the latter and focus on visiting the former. It's very interesting. You will find accurate replicas of famous statues located in other parts of China. Among the others I am referring to the Dazu Rock carvings and Vairocana Buddha from Longmen Caves in Luoyang. Nearby on top of the hill there is a building that hosts a huge statue of the Jade emperor. Aside from this island the ticket comprehends also another very big area where you can stroll around and enjoy both the view of Taihu Lake and the visit of temples and palaces. Needless of me to say the best period to visit this scenic spot is in spring when cherry trees blossom.
From the railway station you can get bus number 1 to reach this popular destination.

Yuantouzhu looks awesome in spring and summer, but not in winter, it’s Bleak and brown. (Like every park in winter...)

As compared with Sanguo Park (the fake movie theme park), it’s not as picturesque and not as “feel good” in winter.

I went because a local said this is “the” park to go, it’s iconic of the city. Please visit in spring and summer.

Great place for a leisurely walk. We enjoyed viewing the lake, gardens, many types of trees and flowers, and I believe what are spring’s sour red cherries. The park is well-maintained and clean.

Very crowed when I was there in late March. Coz it is cherry blossom. The place is huge and many Sakura trees. Be prepare for the crowd and some people take the best spot for as early as 1 or 2 pm to take the nice spot for night shoot of blossom. If no blossom this place is nice chilling for family or couple walk enjoying the scene.

I couldnt stop thinking of the song Cherry Pink and apple blossom white. My wife tells me its rated as the 3rd best Sakura in the world and I believe it springtime is the time to go and tens of thousands (maybe hundreds) will agree. It was crowded but not crazy like Huangshan or Hangzhou West Lake can be So don't let the crowds stop you.
We paid 90rmb pp to get in and just walked to Cherry Avenue instead of joining the lengthy queue for the buggies which had difficulty getting thru the crowds anyway.
I reckon we saw over 300 blossom trees on our 4 or 5km walk how many do you need to see.
We got a taxi there from out Mingfen hotel just to the gate and caught a packed bus 1 back to the railway station.

Even I have been there more than 20 years ago, once I arrived Wuxi, I decided to go there again. Many more building appeared in the lake. The view is not so nice as I expected. Before coming out of the lake, I have noticed some traditional chinese building, and some girl playing some music equipment

The Yuantouzhu area is one of the starting points to see the Taihu (Great Lake). From the entrance point where you buy tickets, it is about a 3km walk (you can pay extra for a buggy ride) to the lakeside to get a boat to the Sanshan area where you can see a mix of temples and Chinese architectures built along the lake.

Outside of the island, please do not forget to take a stroll around the lakeside as there are a number of gardens that you can enjoy.

One of THE places to visit in Wuxi.

This is a very famous and popular place to view cherry blossom in China. I visited it in later March, when the cherry is in bloom, it's very very beautiful, felt like walking into a fairyland.

Went there with my family. This area might be the most beautiful part of Wuxi . We took a short boat trip to a small island which we thoroughly enjoyed.

Highly recommend.
