The Mukden Palace is magnificent. It is much like the Forbidden City except on a smaller scale, without the press of ubiquitous crowds. If one hasn't been to the Forbidden City which is very grand in scope, this palace would impress due to its scale....More

When I was there, the main buildings were under renovated and constructed. So, not much to see. However, if you already have been to forbidden city in Beijing, this place won't be that impressive.

We looked forward to visiting the Shenyang forbidden city, but unfortunately chose a holiday weekend. It was an interesting place, but packed with tourists in every corner (ourselves included, of course).
