DATONG Great Wall

After our visit to the Yungang Grottoes, we want to take a look at the remains of the great Wall near Datong. It was really worth the drive! Beautiful scenery all around!

The Old Datong township has a lovely wall around it - all re-constructed to be like new, but you'd swear it's 2000 years old. It's therefore possible to walk around the Old Town - which itself is being "restored". Beside the West Gate ??( please, please check ) there is a fantastic large modern gallery space built within the wall.... More

This section of the Great Wall is not rebuilt. Just rubble and stones. Gives a look back in history that is difficult to find any more in China.
