If you pass by Tianfu Square , you cannot miss this monument ! Nothing special : just have a look ! Useless to spend more than a few seconds !

Interesting from a historical view and fascinating to see how he's still revered. But for anyone not from the PRC, pretty dull. It's ironic that he's now waving down a street now full of luxury designer outlets. I'm not sure he would approve, but it's...More

For sure it is something unusual in Europe and it deserve a picture to be shown home to friends and colleagues. When I was picturing I was just wondering how come a communist murderer is still so loved by some... it is so sad!

Okay, the statue is not as big as I expected, but it's big and there are lots of police around to protect him...from what? But there he is looking benevolent and keeping a close eye on the latest capitalistic ventures going up all around him!...More

Once these statues were at the centre of all cities. Still here in Chengdu. It's big, that's about it. Running joke is not even Mao can get a taxi in Chengdu

This is a good place for a short stop to take a photo of this massive statue. It gives an insight into how much some people revered him when he ruled China. Western food is available in the underground shopping mall.

Chairman is still worshipped in China and this is an impressive monument to the glorious leader. Looks great at night.

Seems like a visit to Chengdu must include a visit here! Stop by and snap some group photos for sure. You can make this a 15- to 30-muinute stop at best, unless you plan to visit the Chengdu Museum, which would require much greater exploration.

Big proud statue in the city center. If you have not seen one of Mao before, sure ... if not, there are many much better things to do in Chengdu.

The statue is visible from around the city centre and is a key attraction in the city. It makes for a good photo opportunity from Tianfu Square. I recommend to visit after night fall when the lights illuminate the square and statue.
