Lake is just 20 minutes from Ningbo and 2 hours from Shanghai but when you come here you will find a quiet place almost untouched by mass tourism. Around the lake there are still old fishermen villages with narrow streets and pitoresque temples.

Get on the boats! Rent a bike! Walk the parks. Just beautiful. All the above easy to do and cheap. Just avoid it on national holidays like most other places in China.

The lake is located about 30 km from Ningbo. There a few historical sites nearby. And you can do a lot of activities, such as cycling, boating and hiking. Worth a day's visit.

I love going out to Dongqian hu. This is a huge lake with a very nice tourist area. The temple there is pretty cool to see. This is a great place to spend a day and get out of the city.
