We only discovered this (somehow) on our 3rd visit to Cartagena. I wish we'd found it earlier. This is a small museum but perfectly formed. It contains works by South American artists - primarily Colombian. It covers periods from the 50s up until today, with dedicated rooms for artists such as Alejandro Obregón and Enrique Grau. Our big concern is... More

The museum has a good and interesting collection of exhibits which are worth a visit. It's not very big and will only take around an hour to look around. Entry is 8,000 COP each so it's not expensive. If you're in the Walled City and have an hour or so it's a good option.

The front desk doesn't speak english at all. It is super cheap so just pay it and support the locals. The art was really interesting to me because of the dates they were painted and how they must have been influenced by the European Dada and cubist scene. One painting reminded me of a Miro. I also felt they were... More

i feel like some of the exhibits were separated in odd ways-like some very nice pencil nudes weren't together in the same space but, given the shared theme of naked, you'd think they'd be grouped. maybe i don't know what i'm talking about but that was my sense as a viewer of the art. i liked it that they had... Perfect place to relax and take in some Colombian culture and modern art from Colombian and South American Artists. However if you don't appreciate modern art, then a modern art museum may not be for you. However if you enjoy the unusual and enjoy the creativity that is expressed from the artists souls, then stop by as the entrance is... More

Museum was kind of sad. There was some interesting art but the museum is not temperature controlled so it was sweltering hot. The art itself seems to be suffering from the heat coupled with lack of conservation.

This isn't the biggest modern art museum you've ever been to, but I liked the idea of supporting the city to possibly expand it's eclectic collection. Worth a 20 minute stroll.

The building itself - a former customs storage facility - is charmingly well suited to display pieces of art, open, spacious, very well done!

The front desk wasn't very helpful and spoke very little english but the museum was very interesting to go through. it's greatly made out of dada, constructivism and 60's social realism, leaving few space for the more contemporary vibe I'm sure there has been from the 90's or 00's but still its very worth visiting while in the city.

Give this one a miss. The 'collection' is woeful, the staff is bored, it is stifling hot and there is no English anywhere.
