I really didn't expect to like Cartagena as much as I did. The walled city is a very unique center of Spanish architecture, music and food. Lovely cathedrals, lively street performers, fun brass statuary, beautiful flowers and ornamental trees. The city is very walkable, with lots of cafes, plazas and shops. The only downside was there were a lot of... More

Cartagena is still relatively less discovered by most North American tourists so you can enjoy peaceful walks within the walled city without too much noise. There are frequent street peddlers but you'll get good at saying no thank you.

This is a very old city and is beautiful. Streets are very narrow, an pictuesque; many of the buildings have lovely balconies. The plazas are expansive, and there are many restaurants surrounding them. There are more emerald stores than you can count. They are all very anxious to sell you some, but unless you are an emerald expert, you can't... More

If you go to Cartagena and you don't visit the old city you're missing out on a real treasure. This place is beautiful night and day. Take a walking tour during the day or a carriage ride at night and you'll fall in love. If you love architecture this is your place. I can go on and on but really,... More

The walled city is very interesting. There are a lot of museus you can visit, ice-creams and lot of good restaurants. The sunshine is amazing. You should go to the wall at the end of the afternoon and enjoy this wonderful spectacle of nature.

The walled city of Cartagena is delightful--such a pretty place to walk around, so many colorful buildings and wonderful shops and truly amazing restaurants! It's bit light on museums and other major sightseeing destinations, but spending a couple of days here is relaxing, delicious and fun.

We love everything about the walled city - so much that we decided to get married there! You can spend 2 days or you can spend 2 weeks (you might want to in order to try all of the amazing restaurants!)! We cannot wait for our next visit!

We spent nine days in Cartagena and never got tired of walking around and exploring the Walled City. During our visit I think we walked the entire wall and explored every street. There is so much to see and experience between all the nice restaurants, shops and museums. We really enjoyed taking in the Cartagena culture, and will look forward... More

Walking the walls you have history on one side with the beautiful houses tightly packed together on colonial streets. On the other side, you have the yellow sand beaches and the blue Caribbean Sea. It a wonderful walk reflecting the aspects that make this city so memorable.
