We’ve walked up to the statue several times and as one on East Timor’s tourist locations it needs people to regularly pick up the rubbish that others feel is ok to drop. As tourists we picked up several bags worth one morning. The beach on...More

Lovely drive to the place and climb is ok. If you are unfit, you can still make it at slow pace as step are not steep. Beautiful views. Better go early as it gets very hot.

Can be easily reached by bus 12. It’s a beautiful drive on the way. And beach around Cristo Rei has clearer water than other part in the center.

We rented a taxi at $20 round trip from central Dili including 90 minute wait time although you could take a microlet bus for a dollar. Nice uphill walk to the statue (stations of the cross along the way) and the view is spectacular.

Take a mikrolet to the carpark and be prepared for a steep climb. If it is the middle of the day take plenty of water and there are rest areas along the way. The view from the top is spectacular. Don't miss it.

From below, it is certainly a grandiose spectacle. If you climb all the way to the top of the mountain on which the statue is placed, then this is truly impressive, because you have a great view.

A good walk up a couple of thousand stairs to the top, good morning or late arvo walk. Avoid midday heat. Take a bottle of water. Great views from up top. Pity about the pollution with so many plastic water bottles dumped. Take rubbish away,...More

There are not really that many interesting sights in Dili. Among those that worth visiting, Cristo Rei is indeed the No. 1 best attraction. From the roadside entrance, it is strenuous climb (though most people should be able to do it) to the top of...More

Great day out. Not too hard to climb up but I recommend going early in the morning to avoid the heat. Its good to get out of the main part of Dili
