This temple is well worth the convoy trip at dawn. 9 days in Egypt left me with temple fatigue to the point of under appreciating Karnak by the end of my trip because so many are of a similar style. This one however has no...More

Apart from the 3 pyramids of Giza, the twin temples of Abu Simbel could well worth be a visit to Egypt. Built in the 13th century BC by the great pharaoh Ramses II, the main temple was as much dedicated to the deified pharaoh himself,...More

An amazing structure and felt privileged to see it in person. The long dry drive from Old Cataract to Abu Simbel is truly worth it and having the site for only a few of us made it even special. Glad we had the Microbus and...More

The temple complex is just stunning. This was the highlight of the trip. What amazes me is how UNESCO reconstructed the temple from the original location. No photos allowed in the temples.

A bit off the tourist track, but an amazing monument built by Ramses II. Even more amazing that UNESCO helped to save the temple by moving it 60+meters higher when the Aswan Dam was built. Carvings inside the two temples are fascinating as well as...More

Overawed by the size of the place. Go early if you can as it does get really busy. We flew in rather than the bus which I think was worth the extra expense.

This was my primary destination in Egypt. The statues are really colossal and jaw dropping. In my opinion it is the first wonder of the ancient world.

We were already on a tour from Cairo and our luggage was sent on to our boat waiting in Aswan. But to be honest you don't need a tour guide for this. Catch a taxi from the Aswan airport and go into Abu Simbel on your own. It... More
