The oldest working monastery in the world, St Catherine's monastery is located at the foot of mount St Catherine and Mount Sinai. You can visit the chapel at the monastery which is simply sublime with an unbelievably huge number of icons. Must visit the burning bush and Moses' well as well! Guided tours are available which I recommend highly to... More

This will take a short amount of time to see the monastery and best to do early in the morning before all the buses show up. The history of the monastery is interesting and well preserved, including the burning bush. A long way from Cairo, though, at least a 6 hour drive if the most direct route is open.

Located in saint Catherine city, surrounded by huge mountains, with its huge walls and unique structure, you would love to visit it after getting down from Mount musa at morning as it the available time for such visit. Very spiritual place, organized, well managed clean as well. Frindly and strict attitude exists. I recommend to visit it's museum. I see it... More

I was amazed at the beauty. Of the chandeliers inside the church. The postcards they sell were okay. I wish they had the chandeliers and the history of them on postcards. It was truly a peaceful place. I will visit again.

It's no only a monastery for a great saint but also It consists of the burning bush; the bush in which Moses saw the fire as It was on fire, but was not consumed by the flames. The monastery also has valuable icons and manuscripts from bible since the first centuries.

Was amazed to see what is claimed to be the site of the burning bush. The rocks there are peculiar in design making the place worth the visit.

Number of years ago id been to an exhibition about the monastery and it's icons, and so it entered my consciousness and my bucket list. It's an interesting mix of sacred and sacred kitsch. The icons are magnificent and if the timing is right, the light streaming in makes the room filled with spirit, even if you aren't a believer.... More

My friends and family visited this place October 2016 and love every minute we spent there. Though we drove for more than ten hours because the direct road to St. Catherine is closed at the time of our visit, we did not mind at all. Being Christians Catholic, St. Catherine is really our main itinerary in Egypt. This is the... More

When I descended from Mount Sinai, it was early in the morning around 7 am. The gate to enter Saint Catherine monastery has not opened. Together with the other eleven person in our group, we explored the gardens in the monastery complex. A sense of peace was directly felt, as we sat down underneath the olive trees. In the middle...
