A must see when on Vanua Levu. The sights and the surroundings are amazing. If on a hot day going here will help you cool slightly.

This rainforest definitely lives up to its name. Thus, despite the well-graded paths, I'd strongly recommend being in shape for hiking and using local guides who are nimble but not necessarily talkative. Despite the signage that suggests abundant birds, our large group with a late morning arrival (both deterrents to birding) spotted a few birds at the entry where basic... More

Wen there with expectations of seeing bird life and rainforest. It was stated that it was a moderate walk. Not so there were several elderly that were unable to sustain the trek, it was a long walk down the side of a very steep hill to a small creek and cave at bottom. The walk back on a hot humid... We did this on our last day in Savusavu. You have to call the phone number on the sign so the caretaker/villager who was on a plantation a few minutes away can guide you in (we went & picked him up & later dropped him off) - in case the main gate is unmanned & locked. The experience as mentioned... More

I had arranged a taxi to take me there at 8:30 a.m. as I hoped to see some birds. While I did see a few birds - not as many as I had hoped - the walk itself is beautiful and quite worth it. (I made the mistake of initially walking through with the ranger who was not, himself, particularly... More

Well, worth the vist. This area really gives you the experience of being in a tropical rainforest. Be sure to put menthol or eucalyptus oil mixed with coconut oil to ward off hummingbird sized mosquitos! Don't bother with commercial stuff such as OFF. Bring lots of water to drink!

We ventured out to the reserve by bus. It looked appealing but unfortunately it was closed (during scheduled opening hours) and the two phone numbers provided did not connect. Unless you have a car it may not be worth the time consuming journey out there from Savusavu

Low key and interesting this walk is definitely worth taking if you are in the Savusavu area. High in the hill but only 1/2 hour form Savusavu it does have a range of tropical species and gives you a good indication of the local forest in its natural state. There is a pretty basic path but with care and reasonable... More

I liked he walk down to the pools with small waterfalls. It was serene, and a nice place to rest. Along the way, there was a lovely view of Savusavu Bay.

Great friendly host - easy path (albeit a steep step or 2), extremely worthwhile to do and only about 15 minutes drive from Savusavu town!
