Hiking through Plaza Blanca is an awesome experience -- it's good for a short walk or a longer trek, depending on the time available. We went near sunset so the light playing on the white rocks was interesting

This canyon has a special aura that almost matches Escalante Canyon in Utah. The white limestone cliffs tower overhead and resonate with a feeling unlike any I've ever experienced. The hike in is fairly short and not too strenuous. Take water and snacks. I went in October and it was good we had coats. In the shaded areas it got... More

Its free, never crowded and just some of the most beautiful scenery you will ever see. You are free to hike throughout the proprerty. The owners only ask that you don't damage it, dont leave trash and try to stick to the established trails. A hike up into the arroyos is well worth it and you get some really nice... More

This is very much worth the couple of extra miles off the beaten path. So pretty. A good photo op and little walk.

The contrast between the white rock formations and the deep blue sky makes Plaza Blanca mesmerizing. It's an easy short walk from the parking lot to the formations; and this was the experience of a 60+ year old who carries more than a few extra pounds. I walked around the formations for almost an hour before I saw another visitor.... More

Easy hike into the Plaza Blanca and up various dead end slots -- be sure to try a few of them as you get very different perspectives of aspects of the canyon. When returning, climb up over the saddle to the East and wander down to the pinnacles that return you to the main entry. Very ghostly, and you will... More

there are so many beautiful canyons and colorful formations in this area of New Mexico, but Plaza Blanca is special. Walking up the dry river bed and then forking off into subtle pathways that meander off into the various formations is so interesting. The perspective changes almost contactly as you move thru Playa Blanca.. so stop often and bring your... More

Surprised about this pristine place that seems to be so exposed. We went there on two occasions, one during the day, and one for the sunset. It's a small parking lot, we carpooled.
