We visited the Museum of Tahiti and its Islands as part of a group tour of that side of the island. The Museum of Tahiti and the Islands is said to be the best of its kind in the South Pacific and it tells the history of Polynesian settlement from the earliest origins possible in Taiwan in Asia throughout Melanesia,... So happy we did this museum! Thorough explanation of French Polynesia development from geological to social perspectives! Loved viewing the ancient pictures, artifacts with hair, and engravings.

A very informative and educational museum. There was a lot of information on the islands and the history and culture. Quite a number of artifacts of cultural significance as well as from early European settlement. A very good little museum with a charming gift shop. The anchor from Captain Cooks vessel was well preserved and made a great exhibit at... More

Great place to get background information about the islands and people, especially if you don't have a lot of time for your visit. The path was nicely maintained and easy to follow and the gardens were beautiful. We took several photos of the endemic plants.

A nice little museum (with a lovely garden) and a good range of exhibits and artifacts. I'm one of those people who reads every explanatory sign at a museum, and was disappointed that the more detailed information was not translated into English. I could grasp a bit of the French, but... Still a pleasant place to spend a couple of... More

One of the best places to visit in Tahiti, to understand local culture and discover the richness of the island, from biology to archeological artifacts, religion, etc. To do within the first days of your arrival on the island. There is also a very nice garden and there is a scenic view on Moorea island from the outside of the... More
