The access to the lake is a bit of an issue but if you reach there you will find amazing landscape and most beautiful snowcapped mountain ranges surrounding the lake though faraway distances don't forget to carry your SLR.

It is a refreshing place surrounded by apple orchids. Make sure you explore nearby areas/mountains as well.

Nako Lake is a high altitude lake in the Pooh sub-division of the Kinnaur district. It forms part of the boundary of Nako village and seems that the village is half buried in the lake's border. It is about 3,662 metres (12,014 ft) above sea level. The lake is surrounded by willow and poplar trees.

Nako "lake" set in the Nako village is a bit of a misnomer...this was more of a Pond and certainly nothing like the lakes of ladakh or even Dhankar or chandratal. Given the difficult terrain and the paucity of time to see the monasteries and take in the scenic beauty of the drive from Tabo to Kaza I thought the... More

We were lucky to stay in Kinner Camp and had an evening round a big campfire listening to the history of Nako. With that depth of understanding the place is far more interesting. The people are very friendly, but it is changing fast with new tourists. I have no idea what it will be like in a few years, hopefully... More
