Absolutely beautiful lake. However I do not recommend an overnight stay at all owing to altitude, extreme cold and lack of proper facilities, and yes it was snowing when I visited it in mid June.

Stay over night if high altitude has not affected you. Do visit there may be on the 3rd or best the 4th day of your visit to Ladakh. The lake looks different when it rains and completely different in sunlight with it different colour hues......More

Great place. Very unique scenery which changes almost every couple of minutes. Have to pass the treacherous Changala pass to get there

One of the longest and largest lake(135 Kms) at 13K feet. Beautiful weather. It was cold there and we had to wear coats, caps. Decent places to eat enroute from Leh and at Pangog also.

Reaching Pangong was not luxurious, but quite adventurous! Passing through the Chang La pass at around 16000 ft height from sea level could be difficult for the lower percentage of oxygen in air; the temperature was bearable (around 5-10 deg C) when we visited at...More

I am traveling around 22nd July for stargazing. Anyone knows any good spots to pitch tent for stargazing? It would be ideal if there are no sources of light for the near 5kms. And no visible light till the horizon. Would be great if I could get some advice on the possibility of clear night skies around end of July... Thanks much
