It is famous place of interest with ancient Monastery. It is approximately 70 kms from leh city. It is situated on bank of river Indus. You can watch river from back side of Monastery. One interested in watching old civilization should visit this place.

The monasteries here are very ancient. The paintings on the walls and the statues are just too pretty. The way to Alchi from Leh is also pretty. Being at lower altitude than Leh it is more greener. There are 1-2 local shops around that offer...More

Thousand year old buddhist shrines--starting to slowly decay. Still can make out the hand paintings on the walls. Worth going out of your way to see.

It has many rooms with main temple is three storeyed building, built in a form of mandala depicting path to attain enlightenment. This monastery has large number of apple/apricot trees and a scenic view of Indus river
