Go only for the ferry ride to Tannirbavi beach

Nothing to write about for Sultan battery itself. It is just a small circular watch tower with 30 stairs to climb. The view from top is OK. A ferry runs every 15 mins from this place to Tannirbavi beach costing Rs.5/- per person for a 3 minute ride. The ferry ride itself is good and you can reach the beach... More

I am not sure about the public buses that ply from Mangalore bus stand to Sultan Battery. I think you'll have to take a bus to Lady Hill and then take an auto to Sultan Battery. The easier method is to just take an auto directly to Sultan Battery. They charged us Rs.150/- There is an elegant small fort like... More

This could have been a great place. But it is neglected. View is awesome. There is a ferry ride to somewhere from here, which we saw locals taking.

The fort is small, yet it offer amazing view of the backwaters. From sulthan bathery, you can take a ferryride to get to the beach.

Just 4 kms from Mangalore city centre, this place still has its own charm with the backwaters and a small fort. There is a ferry which one can take and will drop you at the Tannirbavi beach.

How many places are there in the world where a beach can be accsessed through a boat ride across a river! Sultan battery offers you this rare delight. The ferry rides are fun, cheap and available at frequent intervals. One can ride across and get to tannirbavi beach on the other side. You can even opt to relax by the... More

With a little bit of imagination, this place could have been done up beautifully and the surroundings could have been improved to create a world class tourist spot. However, as is the case with most historical places whose upkeep is entrusted with governmental organisations, the Sultan Battery in Mangalore is a sad picture of neglect. Believed to have been built... More

Amazing place for passing time with friends. One should visit this place in the evening. The boat ride to Tannirbavi beach is really good.
