A beautiful place but entry is restricted. Need permission from KSEB to enter the premises of dam. The roadtrip from kothamangalam to idamalayar cannot be described in words. Too awesome.

Idamalayar Dam and surrounding area are lush green forest full of wild elephants , no one lives in idamalayar other than people associated with power house , visitors requires permission from KSEB to go past their checkpoint to enter idamalayar. There are no restaurants. There...More

nice spot may see elephants on the way to the dam.. but we could not eneter into the dam premises, the watchman said that we need special sanction from the kseb officials to enter and watch the dam....
