Alleppey is referred to as the Venice of the East. Hardly. It was full of water hyacinths choking off the fish and taking over the waterways. We passed coconut-thatched houses and old, colonial warehouses. The snake boat festival originated in this region. We had a 40-minute lunch at the Lake Palace Resort before returning to the pier in Cochin. It... More

I have travelled with Pickadly House boat. I strongly recommend for family trip. Three staffs were in the boat. Cook, Captain and Housekeeping guy. Well behaving staff. Will get enough privacy. Started with Welcome drink, Noon they provided Kerala style meals with many curries (Non-veg are Chicken Curry and Karimeen Fry). Food was so tasty. If we pay extra they... More

Went for two hour cruise, wouldn't have wanted to spend the night on houseboat, although I'm sure some are very nice. Pleasant journey through the backwaters, with an insight into locals lives, with washing and playing going on.....nothing spectacular, just a pleasant two hours!

A unique and beautiful experience. We were on a one bedroom houseboat captained by John and food cooked by Gobi (our nickname) We chose to add an extra night and we're so happy we did. The houseboat is called 'Nest' and it's owned by Evergreen Tours. The quality of the boat was similar to a 4star Nike cruise boat. John... More

Very conveniently, we went on board the houseboat from the hotel we were staying at by the lake. It was a bit well worn and the deck was overcrowded. It takes 6 people so there was a large table and 6 chairs on deck, but only 2 of us. No recliners and the chairs weren't comfortable. The room was basic... More

So it's not awful or anything but the seats are super uncomfortable and packed into... More
