Seeing the fishing nets in operation is interesting but the broader outlook is of industrial premises on the opposite shore they looked rather like an oil refinery.

The square has many tourist points just at walkable distance, just beside the beach. But maintenance is bad. The roads are not clean. It stinks of fish near the beach and very hot even during December in the noon.

vasco da Gama sqaure is walking distance from the Chinese fishing nets, very close to the Church, there are quite a few small shops where you can buy a souvenir. Good place to explore and walk around in Fort Kochi area ...

The square is full of interest especially the church which dates back numerous centuries and incorporates the old fashioned fans operated by the punkah wallah. Also the place where the England soccer youngsters trained before winning the U17 World Cup.
