This is a simple but peaceful church. It was originally a Catholic Church but became a Dutch Reform Church in 1664. Located in the church is the original grave/tomb and headstone of Vasco da Gama. The church has a very ancient punkah type of air conditioning system where curtains are pulled by bullies to create an air flow The church... More

What a beautiful and peaceful place. Loved it . After visiting the Chinese fishing nets walked further down to find the church were you can view Portuguese discoverer vasco da gama headstone. The church was quiet around 11 and sat and took some time to reflect on the surroundings. Marvellous ceiling fans to keep us cool . The church was... More

This is another lovely building from the outside in Fort Kochi. Inside it is just like any other church I have seen. There is a Tomb but no information is given and no guide/person around to ask about the history. It is worth a look even for a picture of the outside.

This beautiful church, the oldest European church in India, is very close to the hustle and bustle of Fort Cochin so should be on everyone's agenda for a short visit. In many respects it reflects the European struggle for colonial turf in India having been a Catholic church until 1664, part of the Portuguese overseas colonies (the explorer Vasco Da... More

Interesting to see commemorative headstone of his original tomb especially as we saw his tomb in Lisbon when we visited there. Also interesting map.

This is the oldest church here in Cochin (Kochi) and it kept the remains of Portuguese conqueror Vasco de Gama. Small church, simple, no images, nothing.

Never miss when you are close to the Fort Kochi Beach. The nearby football ground is crowded with young fans in the afternoon, makes this place very lively.

Worth a visit, quiet place and appears well loved by locals. The building looks Portuguese or South American in design and stain glass is very nice. Nice place for some quiet time
