A great temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Huge temple premises maintained well. I visited on regular days and there was no rush.

Got to visit Sri Vaikom Mahadeva temple / Vaikkathappan temple last Sunday with my parents, it was one of the oldest Temples of kerala. It's a very familiar temple in India.It's a must see place.There main festival is Thrissurpurem.And it is very beautiful.

Our guide suggested a visit to this temple which he described as one of the oldest in Kerala. We had visited other Hindu temples in Sri Lanka but I found this one charming. famous siva temple in kerala. It is said that it is very sacred if u visit vaikom,kaduthuruthy,ettumanoor temple before noon(ie 11.30 am) within a day. mural paintings around main temple very famous free food served to all people those who visit auspicious day - "Vaikathashtami"

One of the main Siva temple in Kottayam.. "Vaikkathu Astami" festival is very famous with lot of devotes pouring in to temple even from far away locations..

When we visit temples like this, you feel how proud to be born in India which has such rich heritage and culture. Middle of the town and such a big space cannot be imagined in a new temple.
