Definitely worth visiting but please don't have too high expectations. We got to see deers, monkeys and buffles . Don't expect to see tigers or elephants and just enjoy the beautiful views.

Short boat tour on the lake allowing to see few animals. Boats are fine but a bit noisy. If you never did a safari before, then it is a nice tour. But if you did a safari elsewhere where you have seen a lot of animals, then this is not the ideal place to do one more.

We booked the night walk from the Eco Tourism Center at the Ambadi junction. Its a guided tour where Jungle guards would escort your tour with arms - guns. You would need to wear special long socks over your footwear, to prevent leeched and other insects reach your shoes/trousers. You would be given torches. We were lucky to spot a... More

We came here as part of a 2 week south India tour. We were split up into groups of 4 or 5 persons. We arrived in the early morning and the lake was covered in mist. The boat trips did not look very impressive, as the lake's water level was very low and you see much more walking around the... More

Not worth the hassle, TBH. We struggled to get there for the morning boats. Too many tourists and a crowded boat with pre-designated seating wherein you may get unlucky to not be able to see across to the banks. On our trip there were no sightings, unfortunately.

Just don't bother coming, the attitude of the staff on arrival is disgraceful, the information is hard to get and the prices are high. All in all just don't waste your time, there are plenty of better places to go. You have been warned.

A must visit in your lifetime. You feel as if you are visiting heaven. The strict Periyar rules of the forest have protected the flora and fauna. Not at all commercialised. Serene, Quite. Its an awesome experience. You come back home rejuvenated.
