This temple with 14 high gopurams and two big garvagrihas is dedicated to devi parvati and lord sundareswar,i.e. shiva.A must visit when you are in madurai. Some wonderful stone carvings and beatiful gopurams are the highlights of this temple.

as i went to chennai i took a train to madurai boarding at around 2.30 am which was late by 3 hours it took 12 hours to reach madurai which reached at 5.30 pm .reaching madurai i kept my luggage at clock room & straightway...More

I would recommend this place in 7 wonders of the world. Simply mesmerising. I was blessed to spent almost 40 min in garbha-griha. 5 feet Idol of goddess Meenakshi is amazing, made from original Panna stone. I can visit this place n number of times.

Best time is early morning around 5 to 5:30 am. You need not purchase any special dharshan tickets you might as well visit the mandap inside the temple when it is less crowded in the morning.

Hi, once you leave your footwear and pass through the security check just before entering the main temple passing all the shops there is small counter that sells tickets for special darshan. Its just 100 bucks for both... More
