Madurai is known as Temple city in South India. Meenakshi Amman is the temple is the biggest attraction of Madurai. Temple is situated in the heart of city. Architecture is awesome. Interesting part is artwork in the temple. 4 Gopuram, 1 each in each direction.

This is not my first visit. I am coming to this temple from my childhood, but always feel like newcomer to this temple. This time, I wanted to see meenakshi temple in the evening. The evening sun rays added more beauty to the gopurams. As usual crowded, but very calm atmosphere. There is sculptural explanation of 64 thiruvilayadal around shiva... More

Well planned temple though there is confusion due to crowd now. Sculpture and architecture of this temple is onl of the best in India. The mandap called Thousand legged Mandap has some very rare sculpytures and worth examining. Should spend atleast three to four hours to appreciate the art here

The temple is huge in size, and combines the Meenakshi Amman temple and the Sundareswarar temple. Getting here can be challenging, so taking public transport/walking here is easier. The temple is very very beautiful. Guides are available inside the temple, and it could take at least a few hours to see the temple in all completeness in detail.

This temple is amazing architecturally. It is huge and if a Hindu sure you could spend hours there. We found it almost impossible to understand the "English speaking " guide so we did not get to grips with the story. Please make sure that any guide you hire is up to the job before you get inside! We were meant... More

This temple is one of the classic example for ancient Tamil Architectural works. Need to spend a full day to view the whole sculptures - wondered by the perfection in each work. Temple Complex is so clean and well-maintained & well-organised. Full of serene!

There is no charge for Indians to take photographs inside temple but foreigners have to pay INR 50 (less than 1 USD)to use camera inside temple. the crowd was less when we were there. The complete area is clean... More
