Wonderful place in Coonoor. Located near the army training center. Beautifully maintained and kept by the Indian Army.

War memorial is situated right in front of the army gate. It's a quite place and I felt honoured to be there. I don't have any words to explain the memorial, if you are in Wellington you should pay homage to the martyrs by visiting this place

It is located inside the Wellington Cantonment area currently being used by the India Army near Coonoor town. It is erected to honor those who scarified their lives for the country during the times of wars. It is a restricted area and taking photos is strictly prohibited and we are liable to be checked by the Army if they feel... More

On our way to Coonoor we chose to drive by the Wellington cantonment area just to get a sense of our armed forces. This monument stands alone and not so prominently so yet tells quietly a lot about the valor of our soldiers. The spotlessly clean roads through the MRC and the Staff Services College and the ambiance were an... More

The Second World War Memorial Pillar was built to commemorate the soldiers who lost their lives in the Second World War. The cantonment is still in use by the Indian Army as home to the Madras Regiment and it also houses the Indian Defense Services Staff College. This may not be a must visit place but if you have some... More

As I belong to a defense family, I have a special attachment and feel emotional toward such landmarks. Amazing and lucky to see the engravings of defense personnel names who fought during Worldwar I and II, Indo-Pak war, Kargill war etc. Great monument.

It is inside military zone, permission required which we did prior to our visit. This is one of tourist spot in Coonoor. One of our relative resides in Coonoor and she showed us this memorial pillar. Worth seeing if you are in Coonoor area. Well maintained and surrounding are very good.
