About
Air Terjun Tegenungan is a beautiful natural waterfall located just a half-hour drive from Ubud. The lush greenery and picturesque falls are a great photo op to commemorate your trip to Bali. When the conditions are good, you can take a dip in the inviting pool at the base. For a bird's eye view of the falls, be sure to check out the viewpoint near the entrance. Also, note that there's a small fee to enter the waterfall.
To make the most of your trip, take a guided tour to explore other waterfalls in Bali. And if you need a break, there are tourist shops and a day club nearby.

- Rob SGold Coast, Australia1,077 contributionsNice waterfall marred to rampant tourismThis is a nice waterfall. There are also lots of additional opportunities to experience, such as restaurant with booming techno music, the ability to visit the higher waterfall at cost, and an excellent donut shop with donuts that are like eating a sweet cloud. Nice walk, steep stairs, and altogether another tourist trap that might once have been a magical, forest area. Welcome to Ubud.Visited November 2022Written 7 December 2022
- caddyandbellAPerth, Australia4,646 contributionsWow it has been commercialized since I was last hereI had been to the falls before but wanted to take my husband to have a look.It has changed in the last 4 years with tourist photo spots, more shops who yell at you the whole time to buy buy buy.Very expensive looking hotel with a pool overlooking the water. The Waterfall is amazing and the power behind the water flowing is deafening.Couldnt get to the water due to all the tourists and taking photos without heaps of people hard too.It was a quick visit but an easy climb down and up for those whos fitness is lacking.Beautiful spot but spoilt by commercialismVisited December 2022Written 15 December 2022
- Sundeep K24 contributionsgood water fall experienceWould suggest this water fall as it is quite good and with a nominal entrance fees. we skipped the Taman Beji waterfall due to its exorbitant entrance fees. We covered this Tegnungan water fall while we were travelling from our UBUD Hotel to Kuta Hotel, so no separate traveling required. can relax and spent couple of hoursVisited December 2022Written 16 December 2022
- Mark DNewcastle, Australia2,405 contributionsIt's okay, not greatVisited Tegenungan Falls after a recommendation from a friend. I travelled all the way from Legian & to be honest, I was a bit underwhelmed when I arrived. It's a small waterfall and most of the surrounds are run down & closed. There are a couple of instragram opportunities for the wannabes, I visited both sides & to be honest, it wasn't worth the trip. Admission is 20,000 IDR per person, per side.Visited March 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 12 March 2023
- Idz177 contributionsView from OMMOA beautiful waterfall, though we have seen better. I would recommend going to Ommo day club where you can relax, swim, drink and enjoy the better view of the waterfall. Theres an amazing view in the evenings of the bridge which lights up at night. Good photo oppVisited March 2023Written 15 March 2023
- It’s KatsBrisbane, Australia43 contributionsIt’s just a waterfallFamily travelling with a 3 and 6 year old: if you have seen massive waterfalls you can probably give this one a miss. Not much else going on here. Girls were unable to swim in the water as it’s far too rough and pretty dirty too. Lots of Instagramable photo ops if that’s what you are into. Lots of steps - our 6 year was a champ and managed really well. We carried our three year old. We were actually anticipating the climb up to be way worse, and surprised when we got to the top thinking there were way more steps to go. Seemed way more steps going down.Visited March 2023Travelled with familyWritten 29 March 2023
- J L38 contributionsNice viewDue to torrential rain the day before , the waterfall was closed for swimming because of the high water flow and fast current. Not to mention the water wasn’t as clear as it should. Even so it was quite a magnificent view. Lots of steps so make sure you wear comfortable shoes !Visited April 2023Travelled with familyWritten 8 April 2023
- kapilranganBengaluru, India55 contributionsNot worth a visitAn absolutely disappointing place. The waterfall is most unimpressive and small. The water is muddy and dirty and the place is noisy thanks to some local restaurants and tourists. The climb downwards is not too bad, but seems pointless. Can be avoided definitely, as Bali has so many better places to offer.Visited April 2023Travelled with familyWritten 17 April 2023
- Ankur_RubyJainKota, India132 contributionsGoodNice waterfall, you have to go down almost 150 stairs to reach waterfall so climbing up again can be a big challenge for elderly and unfit people. However you are allowed to take dip in water and you can also climb up over the fall. The entry ticket is IDR 20000. There is also full market at the entry of waterfall and there is also one private club with infinity pool overlooking the waterfall.Visited June 2023Written 12 June 2023
- Darren G87 contributionsBeautiful spot, challenging steps to get in and out.Beautiful large waterfall in Ubud. The scenery is spectacular and you can swim at the base of the Waterfall (not directly under the water, however with the force it was coming down you would not want to either). Plenty of great vantage points along the way with Photo opportunities. The falls were flowing well when we went and the water was thundering down. Word of warning though ..... if you are like me and not exactly at the peak of your fitness (I am a pretty large guy and over 50), then the Steps down and back are a real challenge. Steep and a few hundred of them. The refreshing spray from the Falls is a great relief when you get to the bottom, however the trek back up quickly swaps that spritz feeling with hot sweat. There are a number of market stalls at the entry where you can get a cool refreshment on your way back out, if you can still breathe ! There is also a decent sized club playing music etc if that is your styleVisited June 2023Travelled with familyWritten 5 July 2023

Got a taxi from Nusa Dua - took about 75 minutes. The waterfall is beautiful and definitely worth a visit. Lots of steep stairs - be warned. Take towel, bathing costume and change of clothes. It’s really peaceful and not too overcrowded.

The climb to waterfalls is a bit steep but not more than 15-20 mins so easily doable for all ages, if you wish there is a nice ice cream point to bit the heat and take quick stop while climbing down to waterfalls, day we went was quiet and we could enjoy a good hour of water soaked an splashed time with few good clicks . There are couple of day clubs with pool, food, cocktails and swings which would recommend after visit to waterfalls. It would be good to reach this point post lunch which gives you about an hour in waterfalls and another at day clubs.

One of the tourist spots in Ubud but I think it is over rated. We just spent 15 min taking a few pictures. There was a photo spot that they charged 40,000 IDR, it was a ripe off. On the other hand, we had fun bargaining for cold coconuts. The asking price was IDR 30K for foreigners, then it went down to IDR 25K & the final stall offered us IDR 20K.

The water wasn't the clearest I seen. The one I saw in lombok was much more majestic. It was an okay waterfall but pretty much commercialised in my opinion. Too many tourists swam in it so I didnt feel like swimming in it. The food was slightly more expensive.
Overall its an okay stop by but nothing particularly special.

Terrible, touristy - don’t go here. No autenticity, too crowded and really bad taste. Overpriced shops.

Visited the falls around 11.00am and they were busy but no to crowded. You park up and pay, sorry I can't remember what I paid but it was not a lot, take cash as I am not sure you are able to use a card there. You walk through a small market and then down 165 steps down to the fall, there is no shade and it is very hot, the walk down is okay but be prepared for the walk back up. There are lots of view points along the way and where ever you stop the views are stunning and the sound of the fall is magical. Should you wish to swim there are lockers available to put your stuff in. There is a small water temple by the lockers which is worth visiting, very pretty. I then walked to the fall via the stream, I took my shoes off and if is very pebbly so worth taking sea shoes. The fall is set in such a beautiful valley, the whole area is stunning but when you walk through the water to the bottom of the fall it is truly magical. I absolutely loved my visit, the walk back up the stairs in the scorching heat not so much lol!! There is a sign at the bottom that warns you of the 165 steps with a "good luck"! There are several stopping points so you can take it slow and keep your eyes peeled for the cheeky monkeys in the trees. Highly recommend a visit to the falls. The glass bridge isn't to far way either but it was too hot for me to visit the bridge on this occasion. Next time.

Beautiful waterfall and surrounds, ruined by too many tourists (yes I'm one of them). There's some idiotic night/dayclub next to the waterfall pumping out loud music. Loads of insta-idiots who barely look at the place, too busy worrying about where to stand and looking at their own photos.
The falls themselves are lovely but I wouldn't say spectacular.

Super busy, very touristy and a long walk down to the river. More than 200 steps up and back, water was packed with people so wasn’t really a refreshing or enjoyable experience! Waterfall is pretty, but feel like you can just take the photo and then leave

Lovely sights. Slightly ruined visit because of the large numbers of tourist but otherwise still a lovely visit. Would not recommend to those who have difficulties with their mobility as there are many steps (both steep and/or narrow) and if you’d like to get up to nicer areas it would be extremely difficult if you have mobility issues.
Otherwise I was mesmerised and we spent a bit of time just soaking our feet in the water.

You can hire a driver for a day and tell him where you want to go and only do that, or organise a 'package' with him (they all have their own) and he will plan it all out for you including lunch etc This might be a better option if you don't know much about the area.
The Waterfall and Rice Paddies are pretty quick and easy to visit (that's only about 2 hours at most IF you walk to the bottom of the waterfall, less if you don't) so you can grab a bike or local cab and do them yourself. I'd suggest maybe a few more things if you aren't staying in Ubud and are making a day trip because its a long way to come for just those two :)

Bonjour.

Hi, it’s very close to Ubud place in Bali. So you can hire a cab and plan accordingly.
