Got an ojek from Bromo to Ranu Pane, registered and hired a tent and sleeping bag (100,000 rupiah for both for two days). The mats seemed so thin I didn’t bother for the extra weight. Started hike at about 11.30am to 12pm and reached Kalimati...More

Typical of all Indonesian mountain, the hike to the peak is challenging - 45 degrees hike on loose sand gravel and stones. Dangerous because stone will roll and hit people below you, and for every step uphill you take, you will slide down 2 steps....More

This is the tallest mountain in Java and provides spectacular views from Bromo. But you need to go to Mount Bromo before sunrise to have a good view. By mid-morning mountain cover with the clouds.

Recommend to go here on fasting month, or else it can get quite full with visitors. The mountain is beautiful! Especially the hidden treasure of ranukumbolo lake. Just a piece of heaven on earth. From Malang, you need to go to Tumpang, which take about...More

There are plenty of descriptions of the home itself so I'll leave you to read those. What I will say is that this hike is utterly incredible, you see such a variety of landscapes and the final 'summit attack' is like nothing I've ever experienced....More

This is the highest volcano in Java, so I won't recommend it for inexperienced hikers. People usually spend 3D/2N here. Day 1: start from Ranupane, stop at Ranukumbolo and stay for a night. There is a large lake here, where you can resupply waters. Day...More

First, based on hiking approval only allowed to hike up to Kalimati. Actually 3 days 2 nights is sufficient to reach Semeru peak and back to base camp. You can add another night to spend time and Ranu Kumbolo again. Itinerary: 4-5 hours to Ranu...More

We did the climb in 2D/1N and were advised that whilst most Westerners did this the locals tended to do a 3D/2N visit. If you have got time then I would recommend doing what the locals do. We set off from Ranupani around 8 a.m....More

Be careful, dude. The weather changes rapidly, two weeks ago there was a storm in Kalimati. Temperature could drop to near zero. Don't force yourself, know your limit. Take care.
