This was my first visit to the museum. A young guide (Priska) provided a quick overview of the museum. My intention was to learn a bit more of the Javanese history. But I soon realized I'd better buy a good book to get relevant information...More

On the main thoroughfare in Solo/Surakarta you will find this quaint museum. It's worthwhile to spend a hour or so looking at various artifacts and weapons. It's a relatively small and reasonable well maintained museum. I enjoyed seeing this place.

Nothing much but bunch of relic collection on surakarta culture. Worth a visit if there is a free time. yes, you allowed to take picture inside the museum and the entrance is FOC (cause when i go there, no payment accepted).

They have many kind collection of puppets, arcas of Hindu's & Buddha's goddess, keris (Java weapon), porcelain, batik, and many more. This museum is free for enter. But i think, it's okay when the visitor must pay as a maintenance costs.

This museum has a great assortment of cultural artifacts relating to Indonesia. These include an extensive weapons collection, a sculpture yard, money, wayang (shadow puppets), ceremonial masks from Bali, and instruments. Unfortunately, the museum wasn't well annotated with English descriptions, so it wasn't always clear...More

The museum have precious collection, on the history of Java. Rich in culture that we can study and references. However Solo Government need more attention to preserve the museum and allocated more budget.
