The sunrise hike up the volcano was very good and guide was very knowledgeable. The volcano and crater are very impressive. Unfortunately it was a weekend so everywhere was full of locals camping and hanging out and as there were so few westerners we got hassled alot for photos. The hot springs were in fact public geotherm baths again full of locals (fully clothed) in the baths. As the only westerners, we were openly stared at and felt very uncomfortable so didnt change or use the baths. Therefore, our trip was shorter than expected. Guests booking this trip should be advised that they need to be covered if they use the baths. Also feel the trip was vastly overpriced for what it was.

Pricing: We understand your concern about the pricing. The sunrise hike involves a very early start, beginning at 2:30 am and lasting until midday. To ensure the safety and comfort of our guests, we provide an additional payment to our drivers for operating during these non-standard hours. The tour extends for around 8 hours, and the cost of Rp. 1,200,000 per person (USD$75 per person) reflects the quality and expertise of our service. We believe in providing value and unique experiences for our guests.
Weekend Crowds: We apologize for any inconvenience you experienced due to the crowds of local tourists during your visit. Please understand that we have limited control over the presence of local visitors, and these destinations are popular among the local community as well. Hot Spring Attire: We are sorry to hear that you felt uncomfortable at the public geothermal baths. Diana was very efficient and quick in her response. She made sure we got the best hotel rooms, guide and driver. We especially liked our room in Tabo Cottages as our room was directly facing Lake Tabo. Our Mount Sibayak guide was also super knowledgeable and was the only guide during the hike who cooked eggs for us in the middle of the volcano caldera. I would highly recommend this tour agency to anyone who wishes to visit North Sumatra as Diana really tried her best to arrange the best guides and accommodatio for us.

I highly recommend Tri Jaya Tours through Hotel Deli River for all your tours while visiting Medan. As soon as I found Hotel Deli River and Tri Jaya, I had a wonderful stay in Medan and great tour experience. The company is family run and ensure that your experience is comfortable and safe. I felt very safe as a solo female traveler, the drivers and tour guides were careful and I had a wonderful time on each tour I tried ( I also visited Bukit Lawang and Mt. Sibayak as well)

We undertook a bespoke 10 day tour. Program was designed with them and was very flexible. The hotels we stayed in were as advertised but the trip was made very special by Dedi our guide who drove us round. He was very courteous and knowledgeable. Everywhere we stopped he selected an excellent local guide. We say multiple semi wild and wild orangutans and a flowering Rafflesia Arnoldii plus great volcano experience. We did not want to eat in hotels but try local establishments and Dedi guided us through this without an illness for ten days and great varied food.

The driver came on time and tried his very best to communicate with us even with his little command of English, he ensures we are well and tries to introduce as much as he could. Kuddos to him for his effort!
As for the tour, its really a great place with a great view and and a great weather. However, the time taken to the places of interest were rather long not because of the distance nor the driver but the traffic conditions at times were terrible and only with 1 or 2 lanes most of the times with no highways. Do expect to spend at least 6 to 7 hours in the car to and fro. We started at 8am and ended at 8pm at our hotel. So 12 hours with 7 hours in the car that brings you to 5 hours actual time to enjoy the places. But i would say its good to go if yoh love views sich as nature, waterfalls, lakes and lovely weather. If the mentioned is not your thang than i would advise not to waste your time.
For me, i love the sights so im in for this experience.

Wonderful 4 day private tour to Bukit Lawang and Berstagi to climb the Volcano.
We had a great driver, really nice Hotels in Medan (Deli River Hotel) and Bukit Lawang (Ecolodge). Just the one in Berstagi (Hotel Sinabung) we did not like, food was bad and gave my husband tummy trouble.
The local guides in Bukit Lawang and Berstagi where nice and knowledgeable. We saw 6 Orang Utans in one day. Fascinating. This agency is a big recommendation for trips from Medan.

We contacted Tri Jaya about a nostalgia tour to Medan, where we lived as children in the early 1960s. Our trip well exceeded expectations.
We stayed at the Deli River hotel which was a very pleasant oasis with nice large rooms and friendly and efficient staff.
What really made our trip was our guide/driver Anto who threw himself into the nostalgia project with enthusiasm to match our own. He took us to places we recalled, introduced us, chatted and facilitated discussion about our history and the places we visited. As another review said, he was intuitive; he picked up what interested us and helped us experience not only locations but also food and other aspects of Indonesian culture. Plus with two full days we had the opportunity to go to other places such as the Grand Mosque, the Tjong A Fie Museum, the Maimun Palace, Museum of North Sumatra and Maha Vihara Maitreya temple.
We were also impressed by Tri Jaya's organisation. Everyone seemed fully briefed on who were were, what we wished to do, and what we had done! Not a single detail was overlooked in making our experience a memorable one.

We had memorable day out!
Anto was a great guide. Learnt lots about North Sumatra and its people. Anto speaks good english.
Lake Toba and the waterfall was a spectacular view.
Climbing Mount Sibayak was a genuinely epic experience.
Schedule was flexible and never felt rushed.
Anto’s driving was excellent. Made progress through the traffic without feeling risky.
We both really enjoyed this trip! 10/10.

I was in Medan, North Sumatra 5-14 Dec 2022 and I stayed at the Deli River & Omlandia Restaurant hotel. These folks arranged my tour to Samosir island( Lake Toba), returning via Brastagi; anor shorter trip to Ka. Lawanq forest. I am all praises for the tour package arranged for me. It was not too heavily packed for the 3 night tour to Samosir isle and return. Aside from the lousy weather understandable- end of monsoon period), it was a beautifully hotel on the island literally on the shores of the idyllic and placid waters of L. Toba.
Hotel aside, cultural sites aside, what stands out as outstanding and highly commendable is the driver and the vehicle given for my use. The driver, Ucok Erwan was more than a driver to me. A gentleman, polite and one wt deep knowledge of the place, he served as my informal tour guide as well. If one prefers quiet time, one simply has to tell him and he respects our need for quiet time. I was recovering from a bad back and having been advised by the management of Tri- Jaya, Ucok took great pains emphasis added) to make it as comfy a journey for me. I am truly indebted to him and the tour company.
Apart from that, Ucok was also always thinking on his feet and quickly changed my return route in view of the never ending heavy rsins( fear of landslides), but only after seeking my agreement; but without compromising on the sites we had in my plan.
My day trip to Bkt. Lawang to see orang utans in the wild is anor outing that I will never forget. Here, apart from the ride, it was pre arranged that a local guide would accompany me on my jungle sojourn. I can't recall the local guide's name(I think it was a Mr. Shukri- but Ucok n Tri Jaya will know), always gently held my arms/ hands to ensure that I did not slip and fall in the really wet and slippery hill slopes of the jungle.
In sum, my holidays in Medan, 5-14 Dec 2022 is certainly memorable and you can bet that I will do it again, wt Tri Jaya tours of course, to cover Lake Toba, Brastagi ( mainly bc the weather was so horrible that I could hardly see the volcanoes), apart from other areas of this idyllic island of Sumatra. And I would, would visit orang utans sgsin - with my favorite driver, Ucok Erwan. Thank u.

Great experience- Erwen was a great driver who showed us all the sights with aplomb. Orangutan hike was fantastic seeing the orangutans in the wild versus rehab centres where i have seen them before in Borneo.
Volcano hike was a great experience - fantastic views which me and my son enjoyed. Hike was around 6-7km all round so was comfortable if fit

Me and my wife will be visiting Medan on 16th to 19th of October 2015.
On 17th October my wife would like to go on the Medan Architecture Day Tour by Herself.
I would like to know is there a joint group tour of Medan Architecture Day tour during that day?
I'm a little worried because she will be going on her own on the 17th, I cannot come along due to work commitment on that day.
On 18th October We would like to go on the Medan - Brastagi - Sipiso-piso Waterfall Day Tour for 2 person.
