Its really a wonderfull place - no glass, clean and tousands of animals - it might not be political correct but it is better to collect and show the items than to throw them away

If taxidermy is not your thing, keep away. But if you wish to appreciate the beauty of fauna, come and have a look stuff animals from all corners of the globe. My son especially loved the opportunity to touch and hold live hedgehogs near the entrance.

Multiple specimens of a species (eg. tigers could be 25 + ), all ages of species (baby - adult) and little information about species and conservation. Objectively it is not a place of conservation, but a place to display/show off hunting trophies, "awards" and photos of Rahmut - the hunter and owner.

Not a place to go to support wildlife and conservation.

I left this museum with mixed feelings and was split between satisfaction for being able to see so many diverse animals for the first time and sadness and disgust upon so many hunting trophies glorifying killing of animals for sport only.
For the ticket of 150.000 IDR (price for foreigners) you get a guided tour with nice and well informed guide.
The butterfly and other incects section is large and very nice in spite of some kitschy arrangements (like are "The Beatles"). I was glad that was able to see Coelacanth the living fossil fish found in Indonesian waters - there are not many places on Earth where you can see it.

This is more of a hunting collection, a series of trophies, rather than a museum. Impressive collection and glad it’s being used for some education purposes, but quite a few now endangered species which can be quite shocking.

The museum is placed in the main road where the traffic is quite busy. But don't worry, the workers outside the museum will always be helpful to help you cross the street safely. You will be charged for entering the museum (50.000 for domestic tourists and 150.000 for international tourists). In the inside you will find various kind of animals, including vertebrates and invertebrates.
In a positive way, the museum offers knowledge that is good for education. Some animal species are not eligible in Indonesia and might be imported from the origin of country, and thus adding knowledge to the local visitors. Children should like the museum. At most of the layout they are well displayed with adequate information. However, when we visit the African room, it is more like a mess because they just seems to shove everything what's "African" within the display. It is not so pleasant to see. And there is also a merchandise store inside the museum of which you can buy stuffs for collections.
In a negative way, personally I don't like the "hunting" pictures (though they said it is a legal hunting). Even when it is legal, I think it is better to take it down and replace it with something more educating.
Nevertheless, it's worth to visit. Me and my husband especially love the display of the butterflies and moths.

Rahmat Gallery has more than 2500 sepcies preserved animal, so you can see many kind of animlas around the world. they got the dead animals by legal way, so they don't demage the ecosystem.

if you visit it, you will be guided by a friendly guide. They devide the animals by the kingdom and type. They set the Gallery up similiar to the natural habitat

the most favourite part is the bear kingdom and the night safari.

Visited the venue with my big family during our holiday in Medan. From outside it doesn't look much, but once we are inside the animal collection being displayed here are tremendous. It has lots of display variety. The information inside said that the collection results from legal hunting, as well as legal purchase from other countries. It is amazing to see real-sized display of a diverse variety of animals. Inside there is also display of photos & news clips of the owner, who is a businessman cum professional hunter.
