I planned an anniversary afternoon learning New Mexico's cuisine with my bride of 35 years at CST. I had booked the class about 18 days prior, but when I called for directions in route from the immediate vicinity beginning an hour before arrival, 3 of the 4 calls went to voice mail, and on the 4th a child answered and... The cooking schools are great, Chris and Valarie do a SUPER job of entertaining you and engaging you in preparing a delicious meal which you get to share with new friends in their beautiful home. We particularly enjoy the monthly Secret Suppers which include a five course meal served in a different unique location each month, sometimes someones luxury home... More

Visiting Taos can be like visiting another planet- one we'd quickly all like to move to and live on. One of its surprising charms is the Cooking School of Taos. It is a home, and an entertainment, an adobe that soon fills with the smell of great food, already has lovely art, and even looking out the back windows has... More

As other reviewers have mentioned, not only is this a cooking school, but it is an experience! My wife and I participated several years ago during a visit to Taos and we were not disappointed. i decided to retire in the Taos area and looked forward to experiencing this again. Our session this time was Southwestern cuisine. The menu consisted... More

We ate a lot of good food in Taos, but the best meal we had was the one we made ourselves! We attended the Cuban Cooking class at the Cooking Studio Taos on a warm Saturday afternoon. As students arrived to the home of Chris and Valerie, we were greeted with refreshing iced tea and a recipe book. On the... More

This is a really unique experience. After a short drive from Taos to Arroyo seco, Chris and Valerie welcome you to their home and it's a very relaxed fun evening. The summertime is particularly a good choice as you can enjoy the inside and outside spaces. The environment is absolutely incredible and it was fun picking from the garden, enjoying... More

I took the New Mexican cooking class from Chris and had a wonderful afternoon and evening. I'm a good cook but learned new techniques and some wonderful recipes. I have been making the cilantro dressing and the New Mexican beans almost weekly since my return home. I hope next time I am in Taos that Chris will be offering another... More

We enjoyed gorgeous views of the Taos Mountains while getting to know our host chef and each other. My friends and I learned about the importance of quality organic food and how to easily prepare scrumptious Italian Cuisine. In the end we were rewarded with a superb meal. Chris & Valerie Maher make everyone feel at home.

We took a lot of pictures - mostly because it was so unique. We had never done anything quite like this so everyone was a little nervous. It was fun.I did not find the menu or food prep particularly interesting or challenging & there were not wine pairing with courses. In fact, when it was all done, we sat done... More

We enjoyed meeting you all and cooking during your visit. One important thing to note is this was not a typical class for us either! This was a private class and was booked by the other couple you attended with and they have a VERY STRICT dietary outline for us, due to health limitations of one of the participants -... More

This is a great place to learn how to cook, and meet zealous locals of many different backgrounds. The class should be a must for anyone considering moving to Taos because it's a fabulous glimpse into local pursuits and habits.
