The Ilana Goor Museum, distinct in its dual purpose as both the gallery and private home of the artist, is a uniquely hidden gem in the old city of Jaffa. Housed in a historically rooted eighteenth-century structure, the museum allows visitors to see and feel the eclectic collection of famous Israeli sculptor Ilana Goor with Old Jaffa as a background storyline and setting. Within the walls of the beautifully-renovated structure lay over 500 artworks, both by Goor herself and by guest Israeli and international artists included in the museum collection. For the first time in Israel, you have the opportunity to admire works of art from the point of view of the artist/collector rather than as exhibits in a sterile academic environment. Despite the Museum's eclectic nature, each room features creations from different places and times. Each work of art has a different background and a story all its own. The Museum's uniqueness lies in the unexpected contexts generated by each artist, both on the human and on the visual level.

I absolutely loved this museum in Jaffa. There is plenty to see and a wonderful roof terrace with views over Jaffa. There is a small admission charge and you can use a booklet to look around. Located over several floors this place is a delight. I really like Ilana Goor's way of having everything on show and in touching distance.... More

This outstanding museum is an absolute gem that should not be missed if you are in the area of Old Jaffe. It is a collection of electic art of many different mediums either created or collected by artist Ilana Goor over her lifetime. Although the various exhibits are located on several floors, the building is handicap accessible with an elevator... More

We enjoyed touring her eclectic collection - quite different. Nice views from her balcony. They provide a tour booklet upon entry.

I wandered into this museum (and gift shop) while visiting galleries in Jaffa. Was aware of Ilana Goor but not knowledgeable about her or her amazing collection. Just seeing the interior of the house is worth the small entry fee, as are the views from the patio of Jaffa, Tel Aviv and the sea. The art collection is incredibly eclectic... More

The things you can see here! The personalities that came here! You will be amazed, believe me! I am not a fan of the museums, but this place is her home. She is leaving there. And in her house you can see real art.

The kitchen alone is worth the entrance fee - its really stunning with views over the Med, as does the roof terrace, obviously a lot of art and sculpture an interesting taster to the Israeli art scene.

Already the buildng is worth a visit itself, as it is a 18th century house made of bright stone with vaulted ceilings. During a sunny day it is full of light and offers stunning views of Jaffa and of the Mediterranean. Then each piece of the collection has an history, a meaning. From kitchenware, to pieces of religious art, to... More
