We liked it, had the boat tour and a lunch Remember your passport if you go on a boat tour The tourist shops around are cheaper than down town Chiang Rai and people friendlier than expected in such a touristy place.

i like the view there, better to view from the top of the small hill where you can see more clearly about the golden triangle between the 3 countries. There are some stalls there too, surprisingly the pricing is not expensive, I bought some souvenirs there. This is a must visit place if you are going to Chiang Rai.

Very touristy and not much of real interest. Only do visit for the sake of ticking the box of having visited a historically significant location. We spent less than 10mins there.

There is a lot of hype about the Golden Triangle but in theory it is no more than a junction point where three countries meet. The town offers little apart from the traditional souvenir shops and some fairly basic accommodation. At least I can now report that I've visited the place although I was not very enthralled!

This site overlooks the border of the 3 countries (Thailand, Burma and Laos) and also is a route by boat to China which is further up river. Do visit if in the area. There is a small temple there as well.

It was interesting to visit the Lao island, passports were kept by Thailand immigration, but returned back after you returned to Thailand. There were also casinos in Burma and Lao, but we were not allowed to get on the islands except that Lao island. That island was the small village with shops only, nothing special.

A sureal place knowing the history of this area. There are some very good things that have happened in the area and some very bad. From a Historiacal point of view it really is a can't miss. Going to Laos to have a look was sad.
