I visited the area for a few days and enjoyed it immensely. The castles and islands were beautiful, and the small towns offered a lot of fun shops and restaurants. The people are friendly and you really feel like you can stop and chat to people. The boat tours are very fun, and in the summer people love their water... More

Spent most of my summers on the river at my grandparent's camp and then our own camp. Let the camps go since we didn't own the land and things changed in the park. Now my mom and I go camping again in the state parks. We spent last August doing some site seeing, touring castles and paddling for a purpose.... More

I visited this place as part of my trip to niagra falls and I was not expecting anything much before we entered this quite little beautiful town of alexandria bay. Too pretty a place, relaxed atmosphere and lots of awesome ducatis and bullets. The cruise showed us different islands alongside the bay. I wanted to stay and spend some time... More

The 1000 islands are beautiful... take a boat tour, have a nice dinner, visit the shops. ONE BIG WEAKNESS OF ALEX BAY: THE HOTELS ARE NOT GOOD. I've stayed at multiple locations and they're just run down and out dates. Do what Clayton did... put in a nice hotel A-bay!

We had been travelling for more than 5-6 hours and were tired of sitting in the stifling environment of AC bus and this trip came as a boon to me as I could breathe in fresh air! The scenic beauty is beyond words, each island presents a unique structure! Would love to stay at one of these after my retirement..

My cousins had a cottage on Stave Island and I went there many times as a child. We've been back many time as adults and we still love. Go on a boat cruise or rent a boat yourself. A relaxing day!

Alexandria Bay and the Thousand Islands is a very different time in the winter, but it is still beautiful. I had to go up there last weekend, and the scene is very different; most the stores and restaurants are seasonal, so they are not open. There are a couple places on the main roads of the town(s) that are open,... More
