we went to a concert of classical music in the evening and it was amazing, the atmosphere outstanding, not a microphone or electric speakers were used but the sound carried throughout.

We went as part of an organised trip to Apsendos. It felt slightly strange being in a theatre that old (the kind you see on old films). walking up the steps was brilliant and the architecture was quite spectacular. It was good to walk through all the tunnels and sit on the steps/seats! PLEASE DO NOT go and see the... More

Opera is funded by the state in Turkey, which means it is REALLY cheap to attend! The performers are good. They aren't superstars, but they are professional and some have beautiful voices. So, if an opera is showing while you are in town, check it out! You can buy the tickets online, which is easy, and most of the web-site... More

We saw two operas - "Tosca" and "The Magic Flute" - and a ballet - "The Hunchback of Notre Dame". The orchestra was very good, the performers were at least good, the theatre was very good but the best seats in the house cost 15 Turkish Lire - a little over £5!!! Simultaneous translations were illuminated over the stage in Turkish... More

Tremendous atmosphere in Aspendos for this very large scale productıon. Large and very good corps de ballet for the Venusberg orgy scene. Orchestra, chorus and soloists all very good but Elisabeth outstanding. Acoustics in Roman theatre amazing. Best to take an extra cushion! (Stone seats)

Saw them in the Roman theatre at Aspendos singing Tannhauser. The setting in a 2000 year old building added something but the performance was good although singing not up to Royal Operas house standards.

We experienced the ballet at this old Roman theatre. We were able to purchase tickets online in Australia before we left so were very much looking forward to it. The atmosphere was excellent, the ballet and orchestra were good. We would recommend this just for the experience as much as anything else. It is good to visit ruins of amphitheatres... More
